What happens to gum that you swallow it?

Sometimes decentralization makes we swallow a gum that have in the mouth, but the question is what happens in the body after swallowing the gum? Some studies have shown that mistakenly swallowing the gum stays in the body for 7 years, but scientists proved otherwise of this believe. The majority of chewing gum consists of a rubber named butyl also used in the manufacture of basketball's ball. Chemical Society Scientists in United States recently have done a broad investigation regarding the gum to the body and digestive system reaction to it and found the gum digested and destroyed in the stomach by hydrochloric acid and its remainder is excreted by the intestines. Chewing gums are formed typically of sweeteners, flavors, softeners and plastic elements, that plastic material is a polymer in chewing gum and completely are synthetic and do not have any relationship with gum trees. After eating the chewing gum, tongue enzymes begin to break down the large molecules of gum, of course stomach cannot completely destroy the rubber in chewing gum, but it can pass through, and finally chewed gum removes from the body after one to 2 days. Digestion and removing way of gum is just like the process digestion of food, such as pasta, meat and nuts. However, experts recommend that people avoid eating non-food items, but if you swallow the chewing gum by mistake and catch the digestive problems such as adhesion of the esophagus or stomach diseases refer to a specialist.
